- Renting can give people a real feeling of independence, and is often the only option open to young people who do not yet have the means to purchase a house, townhouse or condo etc.
Cons
- Finding that "perfect place" can be a major task.
- Noisy or unfriendly neighbors.
- Unhelpful or unfriendly landlords or property managers.

Rent versus Buy
Why Renters Rent
- My job may require relocation.
- I am not yet sure where I want to settle down.
- We haven't saved enough for a down payment.
- I'm not ready for that sort of commitment.
- I don't think that I can afford to buy just yet.
- I don't know what is required or what my options are.
Why Buyers Buy
- To live the American dream.
- I can afford the down payment.
- We're sick of paying rent and dealing with landlords.
- It made good investment sense.
- We needed a place we could call home.
- I wanted a back yard - somewhere my kids could be safe.
